Deepak Kaushlya was born in 1995 in Haryana, India. He received BFA degree from College of Art, New Delhi in 2017 and MFA from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi in 2019. His works are centered around untold oral mythological and rural stories that were not documented in any form. His current series of work "Untold Banaras" is a result of the conversation over such stories with the locals. Some of his works inspired from folk songs from his native land. Appropriating a variety of familiar motifs from Mughal miniature paintings and traditional Indian miniature painting. Deepak recontextualizes them in light of contemporary concern. He is using watercolor, gouache and natural pigments as working medium. Currently he is working and living in Greater Noida.
